What makes us unique?

Ecolates is founded by a group of friends who have been a part of the service industry in India and abroad for over a decade. They chipped in their valuable experience and knowledge to cater to the rising demands for eco-friendly options in the food servicing industry. Our manufacturing plant is equipped with the latest technology to produce high quality food servicing solutions in no time.

Never under-stocked!

We are located in India. This speaks a ton about our claim of being ready to meet your demands round the clock. In India, 21% of agricultural area is used for sugarcane production. About 22% of the total sugarcane in the world comes from India. There is no dearth of bagasse from where we are based. We can keep the production on and never stop.

More from less

Sugarcane is a crop with high bio-conversion efficiency and can be harvested in a single season. For every tonne of sugarcane stalks that are crushed, about 30 tonnes of bagasse can be obtained. Everything that naturally remains from the crushed sugarcane is used in our production line. We don’t waste, even while managing waste.

Microwave safe

Bagasse is thermal resistant and can hold hot food up to 95 degree Celsius or 200F. This means the food in a bagasse container can be heated in a microwave for temperatures up to 200F.

Strong enough to build!

Bagasse containers and tableware are just as strong and durable as plastic. They are more durable and firmer than polystyrene containers due to the fibrous texture. In fact, various studies have been conducted to investigate the use of sugarcane bagasse ash as a replacement for cement in ordinary, lightweight, and self-compacting concretes.

Refrigerate until consumption

Bagasse packing solutions are refrigerator safe and can be used to store food until consumption without worrying about deterioration of the food quality.

Water and grease resistant

Bagasse containers are grease the water resistant. Rest assured, your food will not meet an untimely demise in our containers.

Purpose of the Company

The consumer sentiment today is driven towards preserving nature by saving trees and eliminating pollutants such as plastics from the environment. Ecolates was founded to meet this demand without compromising on the quality of service. We have named ourselves by combing two key terms – Ecosystem and Plates. While the former refers to the most important thing that needs to be protected today, the latter represents the service industry. So, we cater to the service industry by providing 100% biodegradable, 100% compostable, and 100% natural food servicing solutions.
Ecolates provides bagasse products for various disposable uses. If you require one-time-use products but want to make more eco-friendly purchasing decisions, Ecolates is here at your service.
Whether you are looking for plates for restaurant and hotel use, bowls for serving cereal, lunch trays and plates for parties and lunches, to-go boxes for takeouts, or even sandwich boxes to serve in restaurants: we have a range of products that you and your customers will love.

How our products will help the planet

Ecolates is founded by a group of friends who have been a part of the service industry in India and abroad for over a decade. They chipped in their valuable experience and knowledge to cater to the rising demands for eco-friendly options in the food servicing industry. Our manufacturing plant is equipped with the latest technology to produce high quality food servicing solutions in no time.

100% Biodegradable

Bagasse is 100 percent biodegradable under commercial composting conditions and will break down within 30-90 days. While many paper-based products can be composted too, the advantage of bagasse is that growing it does not have the same environmental impact as paper, which comes from trees.

0% Plastic

Bagasse, also known as sugarcane pulp, is a fibrous material left behind in the sugarcane-harvesting process. Among many other uses, it is a sustainable alternative to conventional plastic packaging. We strictly follow the zero plastic policy, and our products do not even carry the plastic lining often found on food packaging.

Raw Material

Since bagasse is a byproduct of the sugarcane industry, reusing it in the paper-making process reduces the amount of waste produced by sugar mills. Being able to reuse this material to create paper products versus harvesting new materials for paper pulp also reduces deforestation, rendering the paper-making process more eco-friendly.

Easier Bleaching

Bagasse is easier to bleach than the normal wood fibers typically used in the paper-making process. Therefore, it requires less chlorine to achieve the bright white colour. After the cooking process, bagasse turns into black pulp. The pulp then goes through washing process three times to change its color. The process for making wood pulp white for paper creation is more complex and uses more chemicals, making it have a larger negative environmental impact.

People behind ecolates

Ecolates was established to bridge the gap between the demand and supply of eco-friendly food servicing and carry-out solutions in the service industry. Today, restaurants, hotels and delis are looking for more sustainable food containers. Sugarcane bagasse containers help the environment and the company’s budget. Also, it pleases customers when they learn they are being served food in an environment-friendly container that contains no plastic whatsoever. Our core team has members who come with expertise and experience in different sectors in the service industry.
